Flavors of Solitude is a three-album curation organized around bitter, sweet, and plain — three registers of being alone — built from my move from Istanbul to Boston. As a kid in Turkey I was obsessed with cowboys and dreamt of studying in the U.S.; when I finally arrived and became the Turkish cowboy I'd imagined, I realized the dream had been a dream, and the reality of it was far lonelier. The project runs through americana and the rockesque, bluesy register that shaped that dream — Dire Straits, Eric Clapton, The Band — pairing three 12" vinyl records with a hand-crafted leather record bag and a companion catalog book of the lyrics, sleeves, and label designs. Sound, object, and text as a single curatorial system for what it feels like to be far from home and still learning what that means.
